Choosing frames that flatter your face shape

Frame selection is half craft, half intuition. Our optical team has fitted thousands of patients over the years — and the same handful of principles get us most of the way there. Here are the ones we use most often.

Contrast, don't echo

Frames that contrast your face shape are usually more flattering than frames that mirror it. A round face often looks best in a slightly angular frame; a more angular face softens with curves. The Prada and Saint Laurent collections we carry have beautiful examples of both.

Width matters more than shape

The single biggest fit mistake we see is frames that are wider than the face. The frame should align roughly with the temples — wider feels imposing, narrower feels small. We measure this carefully during every fitting.

Bridge fit is everything

If a frame slides down your nose throughout the day, the bridge isn't right. Italian luxury frames — Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent — often have adjustable nose pads that can be customized in-house. We do this for every patient at no additional cost.
